The Host

Juan Carlos Fierro embodies the American Dream. Born in Quito Ecuador and raised by his grandparents, he moved to Northern Virginia in 1982. As a devoted Catholic, his faith has been the guiding light in his life, shaping his values and actions.

Juan Carlos' dedication and passion for excellence shone through from an early age. He graduated from Bishop Ireton High School in 1985 and went on to play Division I basketball while pursuing his bachelor's degree at George Mason University. His time on the court taught him the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership – qualities that would serve him well throughout his career.

After graduation, Juan Carlos made Arlington his home and ventured into the world of international business. His work at the Inter-American Investment Corporation and the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank, took him across the globe, from the vibrant cities of Central and South America to the bustling markets of Europe, China, and the United Arab Emirates. These experiences provided Juan Carlos with a unique perspective on the vital role Northern Virginia plays in the global economy.

In the late 1990s, Juan Carlos transitioned into the financial industry, where he quickly established himself as a trusted advisor to clients seeking to achieve their short- and long-term investment goals. His analytical mind and pragmatic approach allowed him to navigate complex financial landscapes and craft practical solutions that made a real difference in people's lives.

In 2000, Juan Carlos made the profound decision to become an American citizen, recognizing the incredible opportunities and benefits afforded to immigrants who come to the United States in pursuit of their dreams. His journey is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and the unwavering belief in the promise of America.

But Juan Carlos' greatest achievement is his family. While on a business trip to Spain in 2004, he met the love of his life, Inmaculada. They married in 2005 and have been blessed with three wonderful daughters – Carolina, Isabel Teresa, and Rebecca – and a charming Shih Tzu named Olivia. As a father, Juan Carlos has navigated the challenges and joys of raising children in Arlington, with his daughters attending Ashlawn Elementary School, Swanson Middle School, Saint Agnes Catholic School, and Bishop O'Connell. Together with Inmaculada, he understands the crucial role parents play in nurturing and guiding their children.

Beyond his family commitments, Juan Carlos is a dedicated Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus at John the Beloved Parish. He devotes much of his time to volunteering and working through their charitable efforts, making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Juan Carlos Fierro's story is one of resilience, faith, and the pursuit of the American Dream. His journey from Ecuador to the United States, his success in the international business and financial sectors, and his unwavering commitment to his family and community serve as an inspiration to us all. Now, Juan Carlos is considering another way to serve his community. Having previously run for the Arlington County Board, he is contemplating whether to pursue public office once more. Through this podcast, Juan Carlos aims to engage with his listeners, seeking their input and guidance as he weighs the decision to run again. He believes in the power of open dialogue and values the opinions of those he seeks to represent. By fostering a conversation about the issues that matter most to the people of Arlington, Juan Carlos hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the community's needs and aspirations, ultimately helping him determine the best path forward in his potential return to public service and help make Arlington Great Again.
