He graduated from Bishop Ireton High School in 1985 and went on to play Division I basketball while pursuing his bachelor's degree at George Mason University. After graduation, Juan Carlos made Arlington his home and ventured into the world of international business. His work at the Inter-American Investment Corporation and the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank, took him across the globe, from the vibrant cities of Central and South America to the bustling markets of Europe, China, and the United Arab Emirates. These experiences provided Juan Carlos with a unique perspective on the vital role Northern Virginia plays in the global economy.
